The Three Movements of Group Bible Study
For each Sunday's scripture reading, follow this contemplative rhythm together around the room:
The Word (Lectio)
Reading & One Word Sharing
The passage is read aloud once. Everyone listens in silence for a single word or phrase that captures their heart. Go around the room: each person shares only their one word without explanation.
The Dialogue (Meditatio)
Rereading & Open Discussion
A different voice reads the passage a second time. Open the floor for dialogue: share phrases or verses that spoke deeply to someone, and raise honest questions about phrases or verses that challenge or perplex you.
The Calling (Actio)
Personal Calling & Action
After all passages have been read and explored, pause in quiet reflection. Go around the circle: each person has an opportunity to share what specifically they are called to do or change from the verses or discussion.
